Cake Pops!

First, I'd like to warn you that with this recipe, you make A LOT of these. I ended up giving up after dipping 30. I still had 30 left to dip, and about half the cake batter. Basically, you can make about 120 of these, but it's cheap to make! Here's everything that I used:

I got a chocolate cake mix (Pillsbury was on sale for $1), two bags of Ghirardelli chocolate chips in milk chocolate ($5), two bags of skewers ($2) and other things I already had (parchment paper, cooking spray and my heart shaped pan).

Make sure you spray your pan down well so the cake bites come out nicely. I ended up respraying the pan after each use.

Mix together your cake batter:

Yum! As you can see, I used a tbs in order to pour out the batter into the cake pan. However, you have to be very careful with how much you put into the pan. The first time I did them, I put in a bit too much batter and they came out like this:

See how it's all puffed up and you can't really tell it's a heart any more? I put less batter in and got this:

MUCH better. However, it was still pretty difficult deciding how much was too much and how much was just enough... Here's a good majority of them. You can tell I still didn't master how much batter:

That's about half, a little less then. As I said, I made 60 of these bites and still had batter left.

After they cooled, I stacked them on a plate so I could stick them in the freezer.

I ended up deciding to use two plates instead of one because I didn't want to take the chance of them sticking together. Therefore I only made one layer on each plate. I left them in the freezer for about an hour or so and then took them out to put the skewers through them. Make sure to lay parchment paper down first!

This is only some of them. I had two sections. Don't ask why the paper is such a funky shape... Side note! I would advise that you put the parchment paper on top of a cookie sheet so that once you're done, you can easily transport them to the fridge. You can see in that photo that I did NOT do that. :( It made it so difficult to move them to the fridge.

Anyways, I then took ONE of the bags of chocolate chips and poured them into a microwave safe container:

Make sure you stir it often and check it to make sure it doesn't burn!

Yum! I then took the cake bites and dipped them into the chocolate, using my fingers to spread the chocolate to cover the piece completely. Then, I placed them back onto the parchment paper.

Once you've covered them all, place them in the fridge until they harden.

Ta-Da! :) Enjoy!
